Foxlea commenced trading in 1989, where the proprietor John Grice, looking for a horsebox to transport the family's horses, decided to build one himself. Whilst the box was in build, he had the opportunity to sell his share of a business, and so found himself building horseboxes full time. |
From the beginning, the personnel have all been time-served tradesmen. Coachbuilders being the predominant trade, with electricians and coach-painters as required.
During the early nineties, when the new build business slowed down, due to the recession, Horsebox Bits was launched.
"Bits"specialised
in
supplying any of the materials and fittings
required by the D.I.Y.
enthusiast to build or refurbish a box
himself.
Soon the "Bits" business expanded from a one page list to a
24-page
brochure. The turnover from "Bits" now exceeds
that of "Foxlea".
In
recent times, a further step has been taken by the launch of
"Horsebox Kits". The concept of "Kits" is based on the premise that
the D.I.Y.
builder has neither the experience or the
time
to
arrange a complete
project.
There the expertise of the "Foxlea" team moves in to assist
with
both
design
and planning of a project.
